This sad parade of elderly people standing in the cold using wheel chairs, walkers, canes, etc. is a very common site at any daily Lighthouse Mission street outreach. The real sad thing is (especially at this location) is that hundreds of people stand waiting for just the hope of a bag of food while a large American flag is obvious & loudly flapping overhead… what has happened to our country? Places like Lighthouse Mission cant get food or funding to help the 3200+ people each week (while a local Long island "church" spends thousands to build a marble statue) we barely scrape by each week, local villages & gov agencies continously threaten to arrest us for feeding the poor & sharing the Gospel of Jesus, we recieve countless angry e-mails & letters & so few encouraging ones. I know when Jesus said that "we are to in the world but we are not to be of the world" I did not think that I would ever feel like a criminal for feeding the poor & sharing the Gospel of Jesus on Long Island- I was wrong. The good news is ths Jesus says "If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first." - We are blessed to serve our mighty King Jesus & we will fight the forces of darkness to our very last breath! - Pastor jim
